Journal Overview

The Equanimist journal embodies the quality of equanimity, defined as “the quality of having an even mind.” Historically, this term has been associated with balance and fairness, sometimes used interchangeably with “equity.” However, while “equity” stems from the Latin aequitas, meaning “reasonableness,” equanimity has a distinct origin. Its Latin root, aequanimitas, combines aequus (meaning “even”) and animus (meaning “soul” or “mind”), reflecting a harmonious state of both mind and soul. In this sense, aequanimitas describes a balanced mental and emotional state characterized by peace, clarity, wisdom, and insight. The Equanimist journal strives to reflect these values, publishing articles that are thoughtful, balanced, and equanimous in their approach to subjects such as Social Sciences, Arts, Humanities, Business and Management, Law, Education and any other related discipline.
